Lowers operating costs
Hull Surface Treatment (HST) technology is a NEW environmentally friendly treatment for removing growth from a ship's hull.
T&C Marine is the International licensee for a new hull cleaning technology that eliminates the growth on the laminar flow sides of a ship.
It uses no chemicals, detergents or substances which are foreign or harmful to the marine environment. The HST system utilises thermal shock to instantly kill the growth and its spores.
The system is completely safe, and unlike most traditional hull cleaning methods such as hull scrubbing, has no negative impact on anti-foul coatings or the marine environment*.
HST is highly cost effective assisting ships to reduce their fuel consumption, conserve energy and emit lower green-house gases, ensuring that their hulls are clean and smooth - free from bio-fouling organisms such as slime, algae, weed and/or molluscs.
An effective anti-fouling technology, HST also ensures that the hull fouling on commercial and military shipping is reduced/eliminated as a vector for the introduction of Imported Marine Pests (IMPS).
* HST has been approved for use in Australian harbours.
|Hull condition||Fuel consumption||Expected savings with a Clean Hull|
|100% coverage slime and algal growth on laminar flow sections of hull. (This condition is often experienced after only 5 to 8 months out of dry-dock)||60 tons of fuel per day||Up to 12% equalling over 7 tons per day of fuel|
As per research conducted by the Sea Systems Group at British Ministry of Defence in 2007. At vessels design speed and draft.
|Non-toxic diverless application||Safe and cost effective|
|Removes all algal and spore contamination without any disturbance to hullpaint system.||Significant improvement to ship performance Cost savings through lower fuel consumption Environmentally friendly. Reductions to carbon emissions|
|Dead algae and spores remain on hull until it leaves port and is abraded in open seas.||Removes bio-security issues associated with traditional hull cleaning methods|
|In harbour application while ships are docked or at anchor.||No disruption to normal shipping schedules.|
